The zooTAB blog is mostly based on information about my experiences with and (somewhat limited) knowledge of animals at Woodland Park Zoo (WPZ). It’s mostly information or stories that I’d like to present about these different species from the perspective of a Zoo Volunteer and a frequent visitor. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, this page is just some base information and links to sites that can give you more information about Orangutans, some of their biggest threats, and organizations that are trying to help them.
TL;DR
I’m not going to try to duplicate information that is already prevalent on the internet. Below are links for learning more about Orangutans.
Orangutans
- RedApes has a great overview of orangutans. I just really like this org; probably because of the Apes for Apes initiative. We are apes. They are apes. They have some really cool looking t-shirts; I’m hoping to get at some point to support and promote them, but they’ve been sold out for a while.
- The Great Apes Film Initiative has a good general overview of orangutans and what is threatening them.
- orangutan.org has a great facts page, broken up into categories if you are looking for more detailed information:
- Infographic with some basic stats
- A list of 10 organizations that are working to save orangutans
